John Nicholson joined Hughes Fowler Carruthers as a partner on 2 January 2002, coming from the family department of Manches. John read law at Oxford, and spent several years after graduation in business, before reading for the bar. He did his pupillage at 1Mitre Court Buildings and then accepted an invitation to join Manches in 1995. He became a solicitor in 1998.
John specialises in the financial aspects of marriage, civil partnershipand other relationships. He co-authored Butterworths' recent guide for practitioners to the new rules for financial applications. John is an active member of Resolution, fro which he lectures annually, and a trained collaborative lawyer. He is also a member of the International Bar Association. According to Chambers, John provides a "brand of whiz bang enthusiasm that plays well with the clients".
Outside the office, John is a school governor, enjoys living in London and plays bridge rather badly.
