John is a partner in Speechly Bircham's Family team within the Private Client department. He specialises principally in complex, high value ancillary relief cases, and in intractable private law disputes about children.
John has a wealth of experience as a family lawyer – both as a solicitor and a barrister and his reference in Chambers 2009 says that he “has an extremely charming manner,” according to sources who celebrate his “refreshing, straight to the point and enthusiastic” approach to matters. “He isn’t afraid to put up a fight,” say observers, who note that his initial training at the Bar has stood him in good stead handling the most complicated of disputes.
John joined Speechly Bircham in 2008, having previously been a partner for six years at niche family law practice Hughes Fowler Carruthers joining them from Manches LLP. He did his pupilage at 1 Mitre Court Buildings (now Hare Court).
