What is QueerPod?
QueerPod is the only group of lesbian and gay family lawyers working collaboratively with same-sex couples to resolve relationship disputes. We are all part of different law firms, mainly based in London but we have one member in Cambridge and one in Brighton. Check us out here. We are also members of Resolution and follow their Code of Practice to promote a constructive approach to family disputes, whether or not couples opt for the collaborative process. Many of us were involved in campaigning for civil partnership, understanding the huge disadvantages faced by same sex couples whose relationships were not recognised legally. We welcome the introduction of civil partnership and now work to ensure that couples contemplating making this commitment fully understand the difference it will make to them and their families.
We believe that the collaborative approach offers the best legal solution for lesbian and gay relationships and have already used this option to help couples make pre-partnership agreements in advance of their big day. If things don’t work out, a collaborative dissolution (divorce) offers the best prospect for ending the relationship in a dignified and respectful way, allowing you to get on with the rest of your life with the minimum conflict and distress.
However, most of us work in more traditional ways too, so if the collaborative approach is not right for you, we'll tell you and we will still be able to help.
